Zaldy Co timbog sa Prague, sey ni PBBM: ‘We’re now arranging his return to PH’

“NAHULI na si Zaldy Co,” ang balita ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos sa social media matapos maaresto ang dating kongresista na sangkot sa kontrobersyal na flood control project.

Chika pa ng president sa Facebook, “He is now detained in Prague after crossing into the Czech Republic without proper documentation and is currently in the custody of Czech authorities.”

“We are in close coordination with the Czech government to ensure that all legal processes are followed and to arrange for his return to the Philippines at the soonest possible time,” wika pa niya sa post.

Pangako pa niya sa publiko, “We will keep the public informed as developments unfold.”

Matatandaang si Zaldy, na dating chairman ng House Committee on Appropriations, ay matagal nang pinaghahanap ng awtoridad kaugnay ng flood control scandal.

Umalis siya ng bansa noong 2025 matapos masangkot sa kontrobersiya at sinabing magpapagamot umano sa Estados Unidos. 

Ngunit kalaunan, idineklara siyang fugitive from justice matapos hindi humarap sa Sandiganbayan.

Naglabas ng arrest warrant ang korte laban kay dating kongresista at 17 iba pa noong November 2025 dahil sa umano’y anomalya sa P289.4-milyong road dike project sa Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

Nahaharap ngayon ang dating mambabatas sa kasong graft at malversation na may kaugnayan sa naturang proyekto. 

Ayon sa imbestigasyon, substandard umano ang pagkakagawa ng proyekto at tinakpan ito gamit ang pekeng dokumento upang maaprubahan ang bayad sa contractor.

Mariin namang itinanggi ni Zaldy ang mga akusasyon at iginiit na may bahid ng pulitika ang mga kasong isinampa laban sa kanya.
