Rebelasyon naman ni Charlie, “But I just take melatonin (supplements) to try to put myself to sleep. Because it’s really been a problem with me.
“If I can’t sleep, I’ll end up overthinking or things like that. I think it’s very common for people our age right now. We tend to overthink a lot before we sleep.
“Or your body is so used to being awake at a certain time. That you can’t fall asleep anymore.
“So, something that I’ve been trying to avoid since my peak schedule is to avoid this melatonin at the moment,” sabi pa ng aktres na kasama sa cast ng upcoming horror movie na “Huwag Kang Titingin.”
Ayon sa isang health website, ang melatonin ay, “hormone that your body makes naturally and is often called the sleep hormone, as high levels can help you fall asleep.
“Melatonin works with the body’s circadian rhythm, letting you know when it’s time to sleep, wake up, and more. It also helps regulate blood pressure, blood glucose, body weight, hormone levels and body temperature.”
Kasunod nito, tinanong ni Charlie si Dr. Bautista kung okay lang mag-take ng melatonin supplements, “Actually, melatonin, we all have it. So, if you’re not trying to change something about your sleep, you don’t need it. Charlie’s correct with that.
“But sometimes I use it to fix other types of sleep problems. And this is when, maybe a consultation with a sleep specialist is warranted,” sabi pa ng doktor.
“And I’m glad that Charlie was talked to by her friends regarding the possible effects also. Because we don’t want to be taking things that we’re not sure about the effects of,” sabi pa ng doktor.
Sinabi naman ni Charlie na nahihirapan siyang magkabisado ng script kapag kulang sa tulog, “It’s super hard for me to remember lines.
“Sometimes, my brain gets sleepy, and it doesn’t function very well. Especially when I get moody, it’s like my brain is everywhere. So memorizing lines is twice as hard.
“One big factor also is the habits before you sleep, iyong unwinding. Sometimes, we have our phones with us even at night.
“Siyempre as a Gen Z and bagets, palagi rin ako naka-scroll but I realized, dapat iwasan ang pag-cell phone bago matulog,” aniya pa.
Kaya naman suportado niya ang “8-Hour Movement: A Wake-Up Call for Better Sleep” campaign ng mattress manufacturer na Uratex, which aims to encourage Filipinos to reconsider how their sleep environment affects their overall health and productivity.
“Sleep is one of the most important pillars of health, yet it’s rarely discussed when people think about upgrading their homes,” ayon kay Christian Cheng, Category Manager.
“With the 8-Hour Movement, we hope to show how the right mattress can help people achieve deeper, more restorative sleep,” aniya pa.
Sabi ni Pearl Perlada, Senior Marketing Manager, “We’ve always focused on helping customers find products that make everyday living better.
“Partnering with them allows us to highlight that sleep is just as important as any appliance or home essential,” dagdag pa niya.
