Sanya Lopez Says If She Weren't An Artista, She'd Totally Be A *Chef*

Sanya Lopez is one of GMA's stars to watch for. The 24-year-old actress recently got her contract with the network renewed, so fans can expect to see more from Sanya in the coming years. In 2021 alone, Sanya has already worked on two big acting projects: the primetime series My First Yaya, where she plays the titular role, and the fantasy drama series Agimat Ng Agila.

While Sanya is incredibly hardworking and passionate when it comes to acting, it wasn't always the career path she had in mind for herself. In an online conversation with Summit editors, Sanya told Candy that she would have probably pursued culinary arts as her chosen career if acting didn't come into the picture.

"Ang pangarap ko talaga, maging chef talaga. Kasi sobrang hilig ko talaga magluto, as in, dumadating din ako sa point na, kung puwede ako mag-imbento ng pagkain, gagawin ko talaga," shares Sanya.

Despite knowing that culinary arts is not an easy path to pursue, Sanya thinks it's something she'd push herself to do despite the odds. "Sa tingin ko, kung hindi talaga ako natuloy dito sa showbiz, 'yon talaga. Kung meron, kung kakayanin. Kung hindi, baka kung ano lang ang kaya natin. Pero baka pilitin ko ang sarili ko, kasi lagi akong gano'n. Pinipilit ko ang sarili kong kayanin. Kapag hindi ko kaya, mas nacha-challenge ako."

Would she pursue it simultaneously with acting? Due to her busy schedule with her booming show career, however, Sanya can't say yet if she'd be able to pursue her dreams of becoming a chef anytime soon. But it's something she hopes to do in the future. She shares, "Actually, may mga nagre-refer sa akin ng mga schools na maganda talaga sa culinary arts kaya lang sabi ko, kakayanin ko ba 'to? Gusto ko talaga i-push through yung ganito, para may iba rin sa akin, may iba ring aabangan sa akin. Malay natin, in the future, kapag hindi na tayo busy, ma-try na natin."
