Gerald Anderson Says Julia Barretto's 'The One' And Also Hopes Bea Alonzo Can Forgive Him

Gerald Anderson opened up about a lot of things in a recent interview with Boy Abunda.

On August 20, Boy Abunda uploaded on his YouTube channel a video interview with the stars of the soap Init Sa Magdamag: Gerald, JM de Guzman, and Yam Concepcion.

Boy asked the stars about their views on love and directed questions to Gerald about his relationship with his girlfriend, Julia Barretto. Incidentally, Gerald also first confirmed he and Julia were together during a tell-all interview with Boy in March 2021. 

Boy: "Ge, hindi lingid din sa inyong kaalaman that my conversation with you was extremely, extremely controversial. But you're in a better place now. How do you view all those controversies? Ang daming nagdaan, e, 'di ba?"

Gerald: "I think kailangan kong pagdaanan 'yan para makarating ako sa state kung nasaan ako ngayon, sa sitwasyon ko. Siyempre, kung puwedeng hindi dumaan sa ganoong klaseng sitwasyon. But that's life. Hindi ko naman masasabi kung anong mangyayari or 'di ko na po mababago yung nangyari. As much as I wish I could, hindi ko na po hawak 'yon, so I just absorb and learn and just move on with life. Kasi that's what life is about. It's falling down but getting back up."

Boy went on to ask if Gerald would want to marry Julia, as she had made it clear in one of her vlogs that she wants to start a family in five years.

Boy: "If you have your way, would you ask Julia to marry you and why?"

While Gerald expressed a desire to marry Julia, he also said he doesn't want to get in the way of her career, as she is still young.

Gerald: "Opo, Tito Boy. Alam mo, Tito Boy, gusto kong sagutin 'yan talaga, and siguro alam niyo po kung anong isasagot ko diyan, but dahil siguro she's still very young and ang dami pa niyang io-offer sa industriya natin and ang dami pa niyang ibang ipapapakita sa inyo, sa audience natin, yung talent niya, so ayoko maging…"

Boy: "Hadlang."

Gerald: "Ayoko pong maging hadlang doon. But…"

Boy: "But if you had your way, would you actually marry Julia?"

Gerald: "If I had my way, of course. Of course. Kaso hindi pa kami quota, Tito Boy.

Since they were already on the topic of marriage, Boy asked Gerald if he thinks Julia is "the one."

Boy: "I know this is not a fair question because you guys are still very young. Ge, is she the one?"

Gerald: "She's the one, Tito Boy. She's the one."

Boy also asked Gerald if he wants to resolve his issues with Bea.

Boy: "Ang ingay-ingay ng kontrobersya na nagawa natin. Do you want to fix the problems, Gerald?"

Gerald: "Oo naman, Tito Boy. Sana. Sinabi ko nga po kanina na if puwede kong baguhin yung nangyari, kaso… (sighs) I mean, ang hirap, Tito Boy, e. And it's done. I've made mistakes, yung partner—we've both made mistakes."

Bea, who in July 2021 went official with Dominic Roque, has been happily sharing updates of their vacay in the US.

Boy: "Would you—I mean, this is the elephant in the room, again—would you reach out to Bea and to Dominic?"

Gerald: "More siguro kay Bea. I mean, 'wag na po tayo sigurong mandamay ng ibang tao. But I really hope na she will find it in her heart to forgive what happened, forgive me. Nagho-hope lang po ako, Tito Boy."

Bea, Gerald, and Julia were embroiled in a controversial breakup in 2019 when Bea told reporters she did not know that she and Gerald were already broken up and that he just stopped talking to her. Netizens speculated that Gerald was seeing his Between Maybes co-star Julia. At the time, Gerald denied the dating rumors and that any third party was involved in their breakup. Bea and Gerald were together since 2016 and previously dated in 2010.
