Early Projects
1. Save The Last Dance For Me (2004)
The only classic K-drama on our list, Save The Last Dance For Me tells the story of chaebol Hyun Woo (Ji Sung) who gets amnesia after someone tries to kill him. He ends up living with Eun Soo (Eugene) and her family, and they fall in love. Chaos occurs when Hyun Woo remembers his past. If you love The Penthouse’s Eugene, you probably remember watching this drama on local TV. Trivia: This is where Ji Sung met his wife, Lee Bo Young (she played the second lead!).

2. Protect The Boss (2011)
Ji Sung shows us just how good he is at comedy here as Ji Heon, a childish man who got a director role in a company because his dad is the chairman. He meets his match in plucky Eun Seol (Choi Kang Hee), his new secretary, who works hard to help him conquer his fears and get closer to becoming the next company chairman. This cute rom-com is so easy to marathon! It also stars gorgeous Jaejoong (of boy group JYJ) as the more serious Director Mu Won.

3. Secret Love (2013)
In this thrilling melodrama, Yoo Jung (Hwang Jung Eum) goes to prison in place of her boyfriend after he kills someone in a hit-and-run accident. Ji Sung plays Min Hyuk, a chaebol who wants to get revenge for his girlfriend’s death (incidentally, she’s the victim of the hit-and-run). Things get complicated when he ends up falling for Yoo Jung instead. This drama is full of twists and turns, but what we love best about it is Jung Eum and Ji Sung’s chemistry! Ji Sung’s expressive eyes make our hearts melt.

4. Kill Me, Heal Me (2015)
This takes the prize for K-drama that gave us the biggest surprise because it’s so unexpectedly good! Ji Sung plays businessman Cha Do Hyun. He has dissociative identity disorder due to trauma and now hides his six other personalities from his loved ones. Jung Eum partners up with Ji Sung again, this time as first-year psychiatry resident Oh Ri Jin (Jung Eum) who helps Do Hyun cope. Ji Sung’s versatility is in full display here as he’s able to make each personality unique and easily distinguishable from the rest. Bonus: Catch Park Seo Joon looking as hot as ever as Ri Jin’s twin, Ri On.

5. Innocent Defendant (2017)
Ji Sung goes back to his bread and butter with this exciting legal drama, where he plays Park Jung Woo, a successful prosecutor hot on the trail of criminal Cha Min Ho (Uhm Ki Joon of The Penthouse fame). He wakes up one day as a prisoner on death row with no memory of how he got there. What follows is a mind-blowing tale of mystery and suspense. Don’t blink! Every ep has a new revelation to tell. Ji Sung and Ki Joon are both experts at their craft, and it’s a joy to watch them together onscreen. Ji Sung even won the prestigious Grand Prize (Daesang) for his role in this drama.

Recent Projects
6. Familiar Wife (2018)
If you love time travel, this one’s for you. In this fantasy rom-com, Ji Sung plays Cha Joo Hyuk, one half of a couple with waning interest in each other after five years of marriage. When he gets a chance to go back in time to the day he met his wife, Woo Jin (Han Ji Min), he decides to change history—but things aren’t as easy as he thought they would be. Ji Sung handles his character’s immaturity with grace, managing to make Joo Hyuk a loveable character. Thankfully, Joo Hyuk evolves as the story progresses, and you’ll find yourself rooting for his happy ending.

7. Doctor John (2019)
Ji Sung is no stranger to medical dramas, having played a heart surgeon in the past for New Heart, but Doctor John puts a different spin on things by giving him the role of a convict doctor with an expertise in anesthesiology, Cha Yo Han. After getting released, he works with resident Kang Shi Young (Lee Se Young) to help patients in pain. Aside from the romance angle, the show tackles the ethics behind euthanasia and gives you a glimpse of what doctors feel and experience on a daily basis.

8. The Devil Judge (2021)
We love it when Ji Sung turns up the charisma, and he does just that in his ongoing legal drama, The Devil Judge. In this dystopian world, he plays intense and mysterious Kang Yo Han, a judge for a trial court aired live on TV. He’s got a hidden motive that makes associate trial judge Kim Ga On (Park Jin Young of GOT7) suspicious. He also has a sizzling rivalry with Jung Sun Ah (Kim Min Jung), who holds leaders in the palm of her hand as the executive director of a social responsibility foundation.
