Iza Calzado may nakitang ‘sign’ kaya tinanggap ang Cinemalaya entry na ‘Hand of God’

ESPESYAL na regalo para kay Iza Calzado ang pagkakapili sa kanya bilang isa sa mga bida ng “Hand of God,” isa sa mga official entries ng 2026 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.

Sa Instagram, ibinandera ng award-winning actress kung paano nagsimula ang kanyang paglalakbay sa pelikula at kung bakit agad niyang tinanggap ang proyekto.

“Just before Mother’s Day in May, I got a call from my friend @ranvelrufino about a Cinemalaya film that @theslingshotstudios was producing. He shared the story, the journey of my character Farida, and told me it was inspired by true events,” kwento ni Iza.

Lalo pa raw siyang na-excite nang malaman niyang si Mark Duane Angos ang direktor ng pelikula dahil matagal na niyang hinahangaan ang obra nito.

Pagbubunyag pa nga ni Iza, hindi na siya nagdalawang-isip na tanggapin ang alok matapos niyang mabasa ang script ng pelikula.

“When I read the script, I knew I wanted to be part of this film. Playing Farida felt like God’s beautiful Mother’s Day gift to me,” saad ng aktres.

Pinasalamatan din niya ang buong production team at ang kanyang mga nakatrabaho, na nagbigay ng buong puso sa paggawa ng pelikula.

“Every person who worked on this project poured their heart into it. We felt it in every shoot, from Tanay to our unforgettable day in Basilan. To our producers, crew, fellow actors, and everyone behind the scenes, thank you for bringing so much passion and love to this story,” mensahe ni Iza.

“It’s about every child’s right to dream and be given the chance to make those dreams possible,” pagbabahagi niya tungkol sa pelikula.

Dagdag pa niya, “My hope is that this film reminds us to protect those dreams and to keep showing up for those who need us most.”

“To everyone I shared this journey with, maraming salamat. It was a short but deeply meaningful one. We’ve done our work. Now we surrender the rest and trust God’s hand to continue guiding this film. Mabuhay,” aniya.
