NIRESBAKAN ni dating Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque si Atty. Nicholas Kaufman, ang lead counsel ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Mariin niyang kinontra ang sinabi ni Kaufman na “crazy schemes” ang mga ginagawa niya para sa kasong “crimes against humanity” ni Duterte sa International Criminal Court (ICC) sa The Netherlands.
Sa pamamagitan ng kanyang Facebook, sinagot ni Roque na wala siyang ginagawang mali tulad ng akusasyon ng lead counsel ng dating presidente. Sa katunayan, napag-usapan na rin daw nila ni Vice President Sara Duterte ang tungkol sa kanyang mga aksyon.
“I cannot be blamed for devising remedies to bring former President Duterte home alive. No such idea can be characterized as a crazy scheme,” saad ni Roque.
Katwiran pa niya, “In fact, the Vice President acknowledged that we have discussed the domestic legal remedy in numerous occasions and I have deferred to VP’s decision to hold the domestic legal remedy in abeyance pending the outcome of the interim release.”
Feeling din ni Roque, wala na sa lugar ang ginagawang pambabasag sa kanya ni Kaufman lalo’t hindi naman niya hinahadlangan ang pag-usad ng kaso ng dating Pangulo sa ICC.
“Ad hominem attacks and other forms of character assassination have no place in the legal profession and in any decent society, especially if these are directed against individuals who have not – as I said earlier – interfered in the case,” sey pa ni Roque.
Ito naman ang hamon niya kay Kaufman, “I thus call on Atty. Nicholas Kaufman to put an end to this blame game and simply channel his time and energy to bring the former President home alive to make the Filipinos the happiest persons on earth.”
Sa isang panayam, binarag ni Kaufman si Roque dahil sa pag-epal nito sa kaso ni Duterte na maaari raw maglagay sa kanila sa alanganin.
“Dutch lawyer has confirmed to me that Harry Roque approached him with an initiative to sue the Dutch Government for facilitating the rendition of the former President.
“In my opinion, this was a crazy scheme because the release of the former President would require the cooperation of the Dutch Government, something unlikely to be forthcoming if they are being sued by the person concerned,” ani Kaufman.
