Heads Up: By November, Fully Vaxxed Travelers Can Go To Boracay Without A COVID-19 Test

Despite the rainy weather, Filipinos can't resist going to the white sand beaches of Boracay after spending more than a year mostly indoors. Metro Manila residents were allowed entry to the island since September 16, and by November, fully vaccinated individuals can fly to the beach destination without having to undergo RT-PCR testing as long as they have proof of full vaccination. This was announced by the Department of Tourism on Sunday, October 24.

The tourism agency expects that all tourism workers and eligible residents of Boracay will be fully vaccinated in one month, especially after 91.09 percent tourism workers and 62.78 percent residents have been inoculated as of October 24. The island has a total of 24,451 eligible population, which are all expected to get vaccinated within October, making it the first destination in the Philippines to achieve complete inoculation. Up to 11,668 active tourism workers already received their complete doses. This includes people in hotels, resorts, restaurants, spas, souvenir shops, tourism transport, security services, and other tourism frontliners. As of October 18, there are no new active cases on the island.

While new guidelines have yet to be rolled out, here are the latest Boracay travel requirements (as of September 15):

• Negative RT-PCR test result (swab or saliva) with 72 hours validity for non-Aklanon travelers
• Hotel reservation from Department of Tourism-accredited establishment with Certificate of Authority to Operate
• Government-issued ID
• Travel itinerary
• S-Pass registration
• Health declaration through touristboracay.com
