Is Yam Concepcion leaving showbiz?
This was the big question that ABS-CBN showbiz reporter MJ Felipe asked during his exclusive interview with the actress, who's set to tie the knot at the end of July. Yam has been in New York City since May and is currently preparing for her Manhattan wedding with her non-showbiz fiance, Miguel Cuunjieng.
Yam shared that she still can't believe that she's finally settling down soon.
"Nagulat na lang ako, nag-unfold yung buhay ko nang ganito, and siguro dahil din sa prayers niyo, trusting in God's time. Ito yung first time na talagang bumukod ako at sa ibang bansa pa."
On her plans with showbiz after getting married, Yam did not directly answer the question but did express that she wants to enjoy life both in the US and in the Philippines.
"I've worked so hard for several years sa showbiz and I feel like this is my only time to actually just enjoy the city, [may] free time. But I intend to stay here and stay in Manila. Yeah, both places. Hindi yung parang dito lang ako. Ayokong ma-stuck up dito lang."
Based on his LinkedIn profile, Miguel is an Associate Director for Engagement at Federated Hermes, a global investment management company.

On June 23, Yam announced that she and Miguel had been engaged since 2018. In an Instagram post, she shared that he had actually proposed on New Year's Eve during a trip to Niseko, Japan.
Yam revealed that she had kept the engagement a secret because she had so many projects lined up and because she was in "career mode." But now that she's wrapped up her work on the soaps like Halik (2018), Love Thy Woman (2020), and Init Sa Magdamag (2021), she realized that it was time to focus on her relationship with Miguel.
