Here's When The Next Olympic Games Are, From 2022 To 2028

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics literally just started as of, like…a week ago, but the Games are moving super fast and set to wrap up in the next week and a half on August 8. Sorry to break it to you, but Olympic gymnastics won't be in your future for another three years! The good news though? The schedules for the next seven years have already been released, meaning that we know when the next Olympics are happening from 2022 alllll the way to 2028.

Since you're on an all-things Olympics binge (same, TBH), I've compiled a list of all the host locations we can look forward to seeing at the Winter and Summer Olympic Games of the future. You're welcome!

Dates: February 4 to February 20

Beijing had the privilege to host the Summer Olympic Games 14 years ago back in 2008, but this new hosting gig is coming with its fair share of controversy. There's currently a coalition of 200 activist groups coming together to boycott the city and the Winter Olympics because of alleged human rights violations in Tibet, Hong Kong, the Xinjiang Uyghur region, and Inner Mongolia. The European parliament has even become involved, but the IOC has remained silent about the matter.

2024 Summer Olympics: Paris

Dates: July 26 to August 11

The 2024 Summer Olympics are coming to the city of lights! Don't think this is Paris' first Olympic rodeo—the city famously hosted the Games in 1924 with 3,000 athletes from over 44 countries, causing the Olympics to become truly recognized as a world event. The more you know!

This time around, the IOC is doing its absolute best to keep the Games in line with the Paris Agreement on climate change. "The team in Paris explained how they would reduce the Games' carbon emissions by 50 percent compared to previous editions, offset more than their residual emissions, and use their influence to develop long-term carbon compensation projects," the IOC said in a press release.

So what can we expect from the Paris Olympic Games? Tons—and I mean TONS–of green initiatives. For starters, the Olympic Committee is doing its best to make sure that 95 percent of the sporting venues where the Games will take place already exist or are temporary structures—that way, massive cleanup can be avoided after the events are over.

2026 Winter Olympics: Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo

Dates: February 6 to February 22

Milan might be a fabulous Italian city for shopping, but it's about to become an amazing location for watching the Olympic Games! Milan is getting to host the Winter Olympics for the first time ever and is sharing the hosting duties with ski town Cortina d'Ampezzo, which had the privilege of doing so back in 1956. Expect sustainability to be at the top of the agenda again, as 13 of the 14 venues will be temporary or existing structures.

Also expect athletes and commentators to be dressed to the nines when they're not working—Cortina d'Ampezzo is well known for its ski fashion, and there are tons of archival images to prove it. BRB, saving these to my cute winter outfit inspiration Pinterest board:

2028 Summer Olympics: Los Angeles

Dates: July 21 to August 6

The Summer Olympics are coming back to the United States for the first time in 32 years! USA hosted the Olympic Games back in 1932 and 1984, but things are going to be a biiit different this time. Per LA28.org, no new structures will be built for the Games and existing parks in the greater Los Angeles area will be used for the sporting events. As for the Olympic Athletes Village? Yep, that'll be happening at the University of California, so…expect that to get messy AF.
