You Guys, Taylor Swift Is Re-Recording Her Album 'Red' With 14 Songs We've Never Heard Before

Today, June 19, Taylor Swift announced that she's re-recording her 2012 album Red. Titled Red (Taylor’s Version), the "new" album will have 30 tracks. This means there will be 14 new songs for all of us to obsess with and sing along to—on top of the 16 re-recorded tracks from Red.

Taylor stated on her social media pages, "This will be the first time you hear all 30 songs that were meant to go on Red. And hey, one of them is even ten minutes long."

Why 30? Because Taylor couldn't stop writing songs at the time she was working on Red, which Taylor said in 2020 was her true breakup album. She explained, "Sometimes you need to talk it over (over and over and over) for it to ever really be...over. Like your friend who calls you in the middle of the night going on and on about their ex, I just couldn't stop writing."

She added, "Musically and lyrically, Red resembled a heartbroken person. It was all over the place, a fractured mosaic of feelings that somehow all fit together in the end. Happy, free, confused, lonely, devastated, euphoric, wild, and tortured by memories past. Like trying on pieces of a new life, I went into the studio and experimented with different sounds and collaborators. And I'm not sure if it was pouring my thoughts into this album, hearing thousands of your voices sing the lyrics back to me in passionate solidarity, or if it was simply time, but something was healed along the way."

For Swifties, Red, especially the cult favorite song "All Too Well," is linked to Taylor's brief romance with actor Jake Gyllenhaal in 2010.

It can be recalled that in 2019, Taylor said she was going to re-record her six studio albums because she couldn't own her master recordings. She started with her 2008 album Fearless, and Fearless (Taylor's Version) was released in April 2021. The re-recorded version has 26 tracks, including songs that didn't make it to the original cut; one of those is "Mr. Perfectly Fine," which fans think is about Taylor's ex Joe Jonas.

Red (Taylor’s Version) will be released on November 19, 2021.
