"Hindi 'to nawawala sa lahat ng celebration—pasko, birthday, [and] graduation. It's a Filipino staple," Bea mentioned. She also shared that it was the perfect dish to cook since her loved ones were visiting from Zambales, and they're celebrating their Sunday family day. According to Bea, "Yon ang aking number one learning from this crazy pandemic. Hindi lang nagma-matter yung money and yung fame or anything else in this world. What matters is yung family and the loved ones, and the friendships that you make along the way."

Here's how to make Pinoy spaghetti.

  1. Drizzle oil onto a pot that's over medium heat.
  2. Start by putting onions in the pot. (Bea shared that she prefers to put the onions first before the garlic because they're sweeter and they take time to caramelize.) Once done, add garlic.
  3. Saute onions and garlic until they turn golden brown.

  4. In a separate pot, cook your pasta in boiling water. For Bea, she usually checks the pasta's cooking time from the instructions on the label and subtracts one minute to make it more al dente. If you want your pasta to be al dente after it's cooked, one of Bea's tips is to immediately pour ice-cold water to stop it from cooking.
  5. Add ground pork and ground beef.

  6. Increase the heat and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Let the meat simmer and wait for it to release its oils.
  8. Optional: Season with chili flakes. (ICYDK, Bea's a fan of spicy flavors!)
  9. Put the hotdogs in and mix.

  14. Add cheese and let it simmer.
  15. Optional: Add sauce to the pasta and mix. Serve and enjoy!

Fun fact: Unlike most Pinoy spaghetti recipes, Bea doesn't put sugar in hers! "Yung Filipino-style tomato sauce is already sweet enough," she explained. Throughout her time in the kitchen, Bea also reminisced and shared that the sense of taste really brings back all the childhood memories. 'It's something really comforting. Para siyang hug in a bowl."
