Rabiya Mateo Reveals Kobe Paras Is Her Celeb Crush: 'Nanonood ako ng UAAP para lang makita siya'
Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo, like many college students, also waited for the highly anticipated UAAP games. You can say that watching UAAP to support your school and star athletes has been a mini tradition among college students before the pandemic happened. And it seems even the beauty queen has made it her habit to catch games, but for one particular reason.
In an interview with Olivia Quido, who is behind the official skincare line that sponsored Miss Universe 2020, Rabiya talked about her plans to enter showbiz. She even shared how she'd love to try acting in a horror film or show because it's a challenge she'd like to take on.
Aside from her showbiz plans, Rabiya was also asked about her celebrity crush. And Rabiya gamely answers and reveals that it's none other than Kobe Paras. "Ito nakakatawa talaga 'to," Rabiya starts. "I know nothing about basketball. Pero nanonood ako ng UAAP para lang makita siya."
ICYDK, the 23-year-old forward played for the UP Fighting Maroons for one year. During his one-season stint, Kobe led UP to a Final Four run. He also scored a spot in Season 82's Mythical Five. In 2021, Kobe flew to the US to explore basketball opportunities there since the COVID-19 pandemic has put the UAAP on hold. Prior to being part of the UP men's basketball team, Kobe has played collegiate basketball in the US as well: under University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2015, Creighton University in 2016, and Cal State Northridge in 2017.
Kobe isn't the only go-getter in college. Rabiya herself was a student achiever. She graduated cum laude from Iloilo Doctors' College before becoming a licensed therapist.
