Can You Actually Exercise Outdoors During ECQ?

On March 27, 2021, the government placed Metro Manila and its surrounding provinces Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, and Bulacan under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). In an effort to lessen the rising number of COVID-19 cases, the ECQ will run from Sunday, March 29 to Monday, April 4.

Now that we're back at it again with the lockdown life you're probably wondering what businesses are allowed to operate during this second ECQ. Heads up, gyms and spas will be closed until April 4 so it's best to do home workouts for now. But if you're itching to exercise outdoors, you actually can!

According to the Department of Health (DOH), "Outdoor physical activity and exercise [are] allowed as long as you follow these guidelines:

  • Outdoor exercise is allowed from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. only.

  • You exercise within your barangay.

  • Wear a face mask.

  • Follow physical distancing."

So feel free to break a sweat and go on that bike ride, take that walk, or go for a run. Just make sure you keep these guidelines in mind! And of course, don't forget to wash your hands + disinfect all your items as soon as you get home. ;)

Stay safe and healthy, you guys!
