Antoinette Jadaone Shares Charlie Dizon *Never* Got The Full Script Of 'Fan Girl'

Fan Girl is the movie everyone is talking about right now. Starring Charlie Dizon, Paulo Avelino, and directed by Tonet Jadaone, the film is about a 16-year-old high school girl named Jane who is wildly obsessed with (fictional) Paulo Avelino. The film raked in all the big awards at the 2020 Metro Manila Film Fest Awards Night including Best Picture, Best Actor (Paulo Avelino), Best Actress (Charlie Dizon), and Best Director (Antoinette Jadaone), and more—well-deserved! You guys really have to see this one. Charlie Dizon gave the performance of her life.

During a Fan Girl Q&A session on Instagram, someone asked the director: "Direk! Congrats sa  movie! May technique for actors not to be excited during intimate scenes?"

Antoinette Jadaone replied and shared some interesting trivia about the film that made us even bigger fan girls of Charlie: Charlie Dizon never got the full script of the movie and actually received scripts per scene, on the day that she'd shoot those scenes. She wrote:

"True story, I didn't give @charliedizon_ a copy of the full script. Kinwento ko lang sa kanya ang mangyayari sa buong kwento (may kiss, may sex, may *ganung* sex, may masturbation, may drugs) pero hindi ako nagbigay ng script. She only receives the script per scene, on the day she will shoot the scene. (Buti mabilis siya mag-memorize!) This is because I think dahil bagong aktres siya, baka masyado siyang ma-excite at aralin nya nang bongga ang script. Which might lead to her acting being overly studied and calculated. Para mas instictive siya mag-react."

She also added that they actually didn't allow Charlie to talk to Paulo, especially during the early days of shooting:

"Also, esp in the first days, bawal kausapin ni Charlie si Paulo. Wala din siyang aircon sa tent. Fan siya dito, hindi artista. So kahit in between breaks, di niya pwede tsikahin si Pau. Ewan ko kung nakatulong pero kasi para ma-preserve yung awkwardness."

Charlie Dizon wasn't allowed to talk to Paulo Avelino while filming 'Fan Girl'

The director also shared an interesting tidbit about the film: "We had five women camera operators for Fan Girl. Cam operator first request: Must be a woman. And they're all DOP's too." Amazing!
