Maris Racal Actually Has A Song With Disney And The Message Is So *Powerful*

Disney just released the Filipino version of "Starting Now," sung by Maris Racal.

Disney Music Asia recently uploaded the official lyric video of the track, entitled "Simulan," featuring Maris recording the song in a studio. "Starting Now" is the official anthem of Disney's Ultimate Princess Celebration and was sung by singer-songwriter and actress Brandy.

"Hindi po ako makapaniwala," shared Maris in an interview with Star Magic's Inside News. "Talagang, as in, sobrang, 'Talaga ba? Ako?' 'Yon yung reaction ko. 'Yon yung exact reaction ko. 'Seryoso ba?'"

"Nag-'Yes' talaga 'ko 'cause it's such a huge opportunity and dream ko talaga silang maka-work."

Maris said she was so kilig while recording the song. She also shared how she identified with different Disney princesses growing up.

"Wow, sobrang supportive ng mga tao sa studio. Alam mo po yung nagre-record ako, pero at the same time, kinikilig ako? Ang saya sa feeling, ang gaan. Ang gaan po ng song. Ang ganda ng pagkaka-translate from English to Filipino."

"Lahat naman ng mga princesses may kanya-kanyang story. Lahat ng challenges ko growing up as a little girl hanggang sa naging dalaga na 'ko, iba-iba na yung phase ko. So every phase may princess diyan, I'm sure. Kasi every time I watch, naiiyak ako, nainspire ako."

"Simulan" includes powerful lines, such as:

"Siya ay bayani, liwanag dala sa dilim
May pag-asa at tapang na 'di niya kimkim"

Maris isn't the first Filipino artist to be featured by Disney. Other Pinoy artists who have also recorded songs with the entertainment company include Lea Salonga, KZ Tandingan, Darren Espanto, Morissette Amon, and Janella Salvador.
