How Much Does It Cost To Go On A Yacht Sunset Cruise In Subic And Cebu?

Cruising on a yacht is perhaps the ultimate dream. Regular people can have a house and a car, but only the truly rich can afford a boat or a yacht and take it out whenever they want. 

But if you've ever wanted to experience what it's like to have the wind blow your hair and enjoy the view of the sea while aboard a yacht, you're in luck. And no, you don't need ~special connections~. In places like Subic and Cebu, renting a yacht for the day—or night—has become a fashionable way to spend a lazy weekend.

In Subic, the rate for a day cruise is P6,000 per hour for a maximum of 15 guests (plus a one-time terminal fee of P1,500). When you do the math, that just comes down to P500 per guest. You can schedule the cruise at sunset for breathtaking views around Subic Bay and the Bataan peninsula.

The operator of the cruise, La Banca Cruises, says that guests can enjoy the experience aboard its 50-foot yacht. The best part is, you can even bring your own food and drinks, and they won't charge you a corkage fee. Plus, the operator can help you order whatever you want in advance from the restaurants in and around Subic.

According to the operator's website, "This yacht excursion will start sailing out from the Subic Bay Yacht Club and from there the captain will guide you around the bay. After anchoring in a certain spot for swimming and other water sports, you can also enjoy fine dining, party with some chill music and then ending the trip back (at) the Subic Bay Yacht Club."

The yacht is also available for overnight stays (from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.) at P31,500 for a maximum of 15 people.

Meanwhile, those living in Cebu will be glad to know that they can go on a cruise there, too. Jokai Marine International Inc. offers a "party yacht" designed specifically for day cruises. Its 22-meter day cruiser catamaran (called JOKAI I) was built in 2014 and can accommodate a maximum of 50 guests (although that number is cut down to half with current health protocols). The vessel has a built-in bar, two toilets, a sky deck, a bar table with bar stools, small tables with chairs spread out, benches with foams, 10 bean bags, and an external sound system with amplifier and speakers.

The company also says it has complete accreditation from the Cebu City LGU, MARINA, and the Department of Tourism, as well as a certification from the Philippine Register of Shipping (PRS).

"We value and prioritize our guests' safety thus all our management and crew are fully vaccinated," says Carmela Millan Kaisser, president of JMII. "We also follow strict health protocols especially in this pandemic. Our yacht follows a Quality Management System that ensures safety of our vessel."

As for rates, the JOKAI I catamaran offers several packages depending on the requirements. A four-hour cruise (either from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) for a maximum of 25 people starts at P35,900. That includes the use of the dinghy or small boat to and from the pier for boarding (pick up), unlimited drinking water, licensed crew of five onboard, alcohol and disinfectant, use of the sound system, and insurance for all passengers.

The boat can provide food and beverages, which is charged separately. A corkage fee of P3,000 will be charged if you choose to get them elsewhere.

The operator also offers the vessel rental for day cruises that can take up to eight hours and can include island hopping, as well as a venue for events like weddings, corporate team buildings, birthdays/debuts, and more.
