9 Years Later, 'Red' By Taylor Swift Still Gives Me All The ~*Feels*~
When I was in third grade, I remember my friend would always sing at the top of her lungs to "You Belong With Me" in our classroom. Out of curiosity, I asked her what the title of the song was. From there, my ~interest~ towards Taylor Swift and her music began. I'll never forget that day 'cause it led me to becoming a *Swiftie*!
What being a Taylor Swift fan was like in 2012
Out of all the albums Taylor has released so far, Red would have to be my favorite. In fact, I consider it ~top tier~ because it really helped me during my childhood. Growing up, I was bullied a lot in school. This album became my source of comfort. Personally, I think all of her songs are great, but if I really had to choose, "Starlight" and "The Lucky One" would be my top two picks. I like "Starlight" because of the super cute love story—that's apparently rumored to be Ethel and Robert Kennedy's! As for "The Lucky One", it caught my attention because of its ~mysterious~ storytelling vibe. Fun fact: I love Taylor Swift so much to the point where I would buy and eat *A LOT* of ice cream just so that I could get the chance to win tickets to her concert. Talk about effort and dedication, LOL!
What being a Taylor Swift fan is like now in 2021
As soon as Red (Taylor’s Version) was released, I found myself listening to the songs on repeat. Hearing the lyrics as an adult, from a more mature perspective, just hits different. I'm in awe of how these songs had been re-recorded. There's so much more wisdom within her album that it made me realize that acceptance and letting go for something greater is the most beautiful thing that a person can do. Even after nine years, Taylor's storytelling still hasn't changed—and that made me fall in love again with my two favorite songs in the album.

Finding comfort in music is one of the best things in the world, but resonating with the artist is just *extra special*. Being a Swiftie is growing side by side with Taylor. I gotta admit: Her songs made me realize that she was kinda like this sister I never had. If it weren't for her and her music, I wouldn't have been able to surpass all the struggles I've had in the past. Also, I'd like to thank Ms. Swift for inspiring me to be creative, and to raise my voice for women empowerment and the LGBT Community.
And if there's one thing I'm sure about with this whole fangirling experience, it's that I will stan Taylor Swift forever—even when I grow old. She was there for all the good cries and laughs. Her music boldly talks about dealing with toxic relationships, breakups, self-love, and more. She's constantly narrating our collective experiences, and in return, we just can't help but make it our personal national anthem. In my *Swiftie* heart, her music will always give me a sense of comfort, all too well.
