Jake Gyllenhaal Said He Finds 'Bathing To Be Less Necessary' And Twitter Is Struggling To Deal

Jake Gyllenhaal is joining a growing number of celebrities who are opening up about their less-than-conventional hygiene habits.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, the actor jumped into the bathing debate, saying that, "More and more I find bathing to be less necessary, at times. I do also think that there’s a whole world of not bathing that is also really helpful for skin maintenance, and we naturally clean ourselves."

While Jake may feel some shower apathy, he made a point of noting that there are other hygiene habits that he still very much finds necessary.

"I do believe, because Elvis Costello is wonderful, that good manners and bad breath get you nowhere. So I do [brush my teeth]," he said.

Jake is not the first celebrity to share some unconventional views when it comes to washing up. Earlier this month, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis made headlines when they appeared on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast and revealed their hygiene routines.

"I don't wash my body with soap every day," Mila explained (via E! Online). "But I wash pits and tits and holes and soles."

Ashton's routine is similar. "I wash my armpits and my crotch daily, and nothing else ever," he said. "I got a bar of Lever 2000 that just delivers every time. Nothing else."
