Richard Gomez has tested positive for COVID-19.
According to reports from the media, Richard confirmed the news on July 17, Saturday.
"I tested positive for Covid," said Richard in a text message to GMA News. "It could be my exposure from multiple people because of [the] work I do as mayor. But I will be ok."
ICYDK, Richard is the mayor of Ormoc City in Leyte.
Richard also talked about his condition and described the symptoms he is experiencing so far, such as mild cough and fever.
"I will need a lot of rest and will have to be in isolation until I’m better."

"Symptoms are mild and manageable and I will go back to work as soon as doctors will give the clearance. I ask everyone to continue to be vigilant and safe."
Following the results of Richard's COVID-19 test, the office of the mayor has been on lockdown. As of July 15, the city of Ormoc has had a total of 2,028 cases, 214 of which are active. 1,782 have recovered while 32 have died from the virus.
