Britney Spears Says She Has No Idea If She'll Ever Take The Stage Again

Britney Spears has addressed some questions from netizens in one of her latest Instagram uploads. On June 18, Thursday, the pop star shared if she has any plans of performing again.

"Question is, am I ready to take the stage again, am I going to take the stage again, will I ever take the stage again. The answer is I have no idea. I'm having fun right now, I'm in a transition in my life and I'm enjoying myself."

The last time Britney performed in public was in 2018 when she went on her tenth concert tour, Piece Of Me.

Britney is set to testify in a conservatorship case in a Los Angeles court on June 23, 2021. ICYDK, a conservatorship is "a court case where a judge appoints a responsible person or organization (called the ‘conservator’) to care for another adult (called the ‘conservatee’) who cannot care for himself or herself or manage his or her own finances."

Here's a recap: When Britney had a public breakdown in 2007 and was placed under "temporary psychiatric hold" in 2008, her dad Jamie Spears and her lawyer were granted conservatorship to look after her "assets, estate, and business affairs." Basically, this meant that Britney has had no control over her finances since 2008. She was 26 at the time and today, she's 39 years old.

While Britney's dad had to recuperate in 2019 from a ruptured colon, licensed professional conservator Jodi Montgomery became her temporary conservator. In 2020, Britney filed a motion that Jodi become her permanent conservator, as, according to her legal representative, she was "strongly opposed" to her dad resuming the role, amid allegations that he took advantage of Britney's wealth. Her lawyers also said she was "afraid of her father" and that she would pause her career as long as he remains in control of it.

Fans started the #FreeBritney social media movement, which calls for Britney to be removed from the conservatorship legal arrangement. Celebs have also spoken out in defense of Britney and her need to have control of her own life. Britney has not commented on the hashtag or directly addressed concerns surrounding the legal binding.

In February 2021, the New York Times and Hulu released the documentary Framing Britney Spears, which looks into her rise to pop stardom, how she's treated by the paparazzi, her highly publicized meltdown in 2007, and her relationship with Jamie.

In April 2021, Britney said in an IG post that while she hasn't watched the film, she cried for two weeks because she was so "embarrassed by the light they put me in."
