Aww, Heart Evangelista Greeted The Late Miriam Defensor-Santiago On What Would'Ve Been The Senator's 76th Birthday

Heart Evangelista just honored the late ex-Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago.

On June 15, Tuesday, Heart took to Instagram Stories to greet Miriam on what would have been her 76th birthday, featuring a touching photo of them together.

"Happy birthday, Tita @iamsenmiriam. Miss you always."

Miriam was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2014. She passed away on September 29, 2016. According to a tweet posted on the late senator's behalf, she died peacefully in her sleep. She was 71 years old.

On the day of Miriam's passing, Heart posted a touching tribute on Instagram for Miriam and talked about how she considers the senator her "second mom" and her "superhero."

In an article that Heart wrote for Preview.ph in 2014, she shared how she and Miriam met by chance and how they eventually developed a special friendship. The senator was also actually the one who introduced Heart to her now-spouse, Sorsogon governor Chiz Escudero.
