8 Supernatural K-Dramas To Watch If You Want Something Out Of This World

We love a good slice-of-life or melo K-drama just as much as anyone, but sometimes, we just find ourselves looking for something more—something out of this world! From ghosts and zombies to nine-tailed foxes and grim reapers, South Korea has featured all sorts of supernatural and mythical creatures in its dramas.

We’ve selected some of our recent faves below that you can watch on Netflix, iQIYI, and Viu, and they're all guaranteed to feed your escapist fantasies.

1. The School Nurse Files (2020)

Who’s in it: Jung Yu Mi, Nam Joo Hyuk

Where to watch it: Netflix

This is one of the weirdest K-dramas we’ve ever watched—in a good way! Our heroine, Ahn Eun Young (Yu Mi), is a school nurse with the ability to see jellies. These jellies are a manifestation of people’s desires, and some of them can be harmful and turn into monsters. Eun Young fights these types of jellies with her weapons of choice: a BB gun and a toy sword. Hong In Pyo (Joo Hyuk) is a school teacher surrounded by a mysterious force field that repels jellies. Eun Young initially befriends him because of his power, but they soon join forces to help students affected by jellies in school.

8. My Roommate Is A Gumiho (2021)

Who’s in it: Jang Ki Yong, Lee Hyeri

Where to watch it: iQiyi

Woo Yeo aspires to be human, and he needs his fox bead to achieve his wish. If he can’t find a way to get his fox bead from Dam within a year, Dam will die and he loses his bead, along with his chance of becoming human. If this drama sounds familiar to you, it might be because there were early reports of two of our fave Start-Up actors joining the cast: Kang Ha Na and Kim Do Wan play supporting characters here, and they have their own love line. We can’t wait to see how the romance develops!
