8 Pairs Of Korean Actors Who've Done Multiple Projects Together

One of our wishes as K-drama fans is to see our favorite Korean stars in the same project. When that *finally* happens, our next dream is to...see them again together in another project! That means more OTP (one true pair) content to swoon over in the form of episodes, behind-the-scenes, and Instagram selfies. Luckily for some fandoms, a number of celebs were able to reunite in a drama or movie!

Curious who they are? Here are eight pairs of Korean actors who've already worked together multiple times:

1. Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin

Back in 2017, it was confirmed that Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin will star in the crime thriller movie, Negotiation (Fun fact: This is Binnie's first role as a villain!). It premiered in 2018 and during the film's press con, Ye Jin mentioned that Hyun Bin reviewing the casting offer was a deciding factor in her decision. The following year, Hyun Bin revealed in an Esquire Korea interview that he wants to work with her again! *screams*

Binnie's wish came true when both of them were cast in Crash Landing On You (CLOY) as the RiRi couple. More kilig coming your way: Ye Jin said in CLOY's press con that "It’s rare for actors to meet again in another project, so I think this is fate." And now they're a real-life couple. <3 Love this for you, BinJin stans!

2. Kim So Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun

Kim So Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun's first project together is in the 2013 heist movie The Thieves, described by Netflix as: "This slick caper flick finds Korean and Chinese professional thieves joining forces to pinch a $20 million diamond from an impenetrable casino vault." They're not actually a *real* couple in this film but they did share a very steamy kiss!

Two years after, Soo Hyun and Ji Hyun met again in the iconic My Love From The Star! Here, So Hyun plays an alien named Do Min Joon—he looks like a human being except that he's already 400 years old. On the other hand, Ji Hyun transforms into popular actress Cheon Song Yi with a diva-like attitude that became the cause of her downfall.

3. Kim Soo Hyun and IU

The K-drama Dream High (2011) paved the way for Kim Soo Hyun and IU to work together. This series is all about the students of Kirin High School who have one goal: To debut as a K-pop idol. The two actors do not have any love story here...

...but it's a different case in The Producers (2015)! This drama shows what it's like working as a TV producer in South Korea, particularly in the broadcasting channel KBS. IU portrays Cindy, a K-pop star, while Soo Hyun is a rookie PD.

Fast forward to 2019, Soo Hyun made a special cameo in the IU-led drama, Hotel Del Luna! Although the two didn't have any particular scene as a couple, we're still not over the fact that they were reunited.

4. Cha Tae Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun

Who can forget My Sassy Girl (which has a Filipino remake in the works, BTW), the Korean movie that has probably started your love for all things Hallyu? The rom-com was a phenomenal success not just in South Korea but also all over the world! Jun Ji Hyun and Cha Tae Hyun are paired here as "The Girl" and Gyeon Woo.

In a special appearance in Legend Of The Blue SeaCha Tae Hyun was able to work again with Ji Hyun. He transformed into a con man who tricked Ji Hyun's character and he even made a reference to My Sassy Girl by calling her "bizarre"!

5. Lee Seung Gi and Bae Suzy

The 2013 historical drama Gu Family Book (also known as Kang Chi, The Beginning) stars Lee Seung Gi as Choi Kang Chi, a half-human, half gumiho. He initially had his eyes set on his first love Chung Jo (Lee Yu Bi) but he eventually fell for the martial arts instructor Yeo Wool, played by Bae Suzy. Their ending was tragic and because of this, their fans wished for another Seung Gi and Suzy project.

It looks like the fans of the two ~manifested~ a lot because they worked again together after six years! Vagabond is an action-packed series that showed their different sides, with Seung Gi as a stuntman and Suzy as an undercover agent. In the drama's press con, Seung Gi talked more about their reunion project and described his co-star: “She [filmed] with a positive and bright attitude. There were many parts that were physically difficult, but her facial expressions never showed that.”

6. Park Seo Joon and Hwang Jung Eum

In a single year, Park Seo Joon  and Hwang Jung Eum was cast in the same K-dramas! Kill Me Heal Me came first: Here, Seo Joon is Oh Ri On, who appears goofy but is actually a mystery novel author who uses a pseudonym. Meanwhile, Jung Eum is a short-tempered psychiatrist who tries to conceal her real personality. The sitch? The two are twins in this series.

Kill Me Heal Me was immediately followed by She Was Pretty, the show that finally made Seo Joon and Jung Eum an onscreen couple. This K-drama garnered double-digit ratings during the months it was aired and that just means that their chemistry is undeniable!

7. Jung Yong Hwa and Park Shin Hye

If we're going to be honest, we initially thought that CNBLUE's Jung Yong Hwa and Park Shin Hye were paired in only one K-drama (we enjoyed watching Heartstrings on ABS-CBN in 2011). But after researching, it turns out that we're wrong! Prior to Heartstrings, the two actors were co-stars in You're Beautiful, a gender-bender drama about a nun who had to pretend to be his brother, a member of the band A.N Jell, because of a messy plastic surgery incident.

Now going back to Heartstrings, Jung Hwa is cast as Lee Shin, a conceited band lead singer and guitarist. Beneath his arrogant exterior is an actual softie that nobody expected! He meets Gyu Won, a Traditional Korean Music student from a family of well-known musicians, whom he falls in love with.

7. Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na

Ah, our Peach Couple from Goblin (2016). Did you know that this nickname given to Lee Dong Wook  (as the Grim Reaper) and Yoo In Na (as Sunny) has two meanings? According to an article by Soompi, Peach Couple "doesn’t just refer to the scene where Sunny swept off the Grim Reaper’s hat with a peach blossom branch that revealed him to her. The Korean pronunciation of the English word “peach” is “pi chi,” from pizza and chicken. The latter comes from Sunny’s occupation as a chicken shop owner, while the former comes from Lee Dong Wook’s Grim Reaper hat, which looks like the hat in Pizza Hut’s logo." #TheMoreYouKnow

Fans of Dong Wook and In Na are truly blessed! Come 2019, they became an onscreen couple again in Touch Your Heart where they showcased more of their chemistry. This K-drama is based on a web novel of the same name and follows the life of a popular actress whose career went downhill because of an issue involving a chaebol's heir. For her to make a major comeback, she worked at a law firm to improve her acting chops...and later develops feelings for a lawyer.
