8 K-Dramas To Watch On Netflix And Viu If You Love 'Mine'

We’ve got a new K-drama obsession, and it’s called Mine! If you’re not watching it yet, you should. Mine begins with a dark murder scene, then backtracks to tell the story of the high society Hyowon household—and all their *secrets and lies*. With each new ep, a new revelation unfolds, and we can’t help getting riveted. We’ve got more than just cheating husbands this time around. It doesn’t hurt that the cast features powerhouse actresses Lee Bo Young and Kim Seo Hyung, too.

Mine got us in the mood to watch more shows filled with gossip and intrigue, so we put together this list to help other Cosmo readers who might feel the same way. Let the binge-watching begin!

1. The Penthouse: War in Life 1, 2, and 3 (2020-2021)

Who’s in it: Lee Ji Ah, Kim So Yeon, Eugene, Um Ki Joon

Where to watch it: Viu

This drama has us tearing our hair out. It’s about as makjang as a drama can get (A makjang drama usually has over-the-top elements, to the point that they’re often unbelievable), but, boy, is it addicting! The Penthouse tells the story of different families living in the prestigious Hera Palace complex. Only the wealthiest and most respected can live at Hera Palace, and the parents go all out to give their kids a leg up in their education at Cheong Ah Arts High School. It’s a bloody race to the top—literally—as a murder occurs and disrupts their daily lives. The show got such high ratings in Korea that it spawned a second and a (still airing) third season.

He once tried to interview Eun Soo when she was in jail because he found her case suspicious. He unknowingly adopted Eun Soo’s daughter, and she will do everything in her power to get close to her child—even if it means becoming Ji Min’s wife. As their relationship deepens, secrets start getting revealed.

Our hearts were in our throats for pretty much most of the drama, and there are crazy twists until the very end.

It’s a race against time as cut off parts of Sang Hoon’s body start appearing one by one. How far is Seo Hui willing to go for her husband? This drama had us on the edge of our seats. 6. The Last Empress (2018-2019)

Who’s in it: Jang Na Ra, Shin Sung Rok, Choi Jin Hyuk

Where to watch it: Netflix, Viu

This drama is built on the premise that the monarchy in Korea still exists in modern times. Musical actress Sunny (Na Ra) gets married to Emperor Lee Hyuk (Sung Rok), making her the empress of the nation. Written by Kim Soon Ok, the same author behind The Penthouse, The Last Empress is another fascinating makjang drama we can’t help falling in love with. Just make sure to suspend disbelief, and you’ll definitely enjoy this drama. Sunny finds herself caught in a power struggle and a revenge plot. She’s initially unaware of the emperor’s villainous nature, but slowly but surely, she starts uncovering the corruption going on in the palace.

The women do everything in their power to secure a bright future for their kids, whether they like it or not, and when a student is found dead at SKY Castle, certain truths start coming out of the shadows. While this drama might feel reminiscent of The Penthouse, its setup is a lot more satirical. Mine’s Kim Seo Hyung is in the cast too as a no-nonsense tutor with a hidden past.

You might know Kim Sun Ah as the lovable protagonist of My Lovely Sam Soon. Here, she gets to show off her acting range as she gives us one of the craziest, most antagonizing characters ever, Park Bok Ja, a caregiver who worms her way into a wealthy family by making her ward marry her.
