Pauleen Luna On Her Weight Loss Journey And Losing 20 Pounds: 'Slowly but surely and most importantly, happily'
Pauleen Luna is inching closer to her weight goal. On Instagram, the host and celebrity mom proudly showed off a slimmer bod and revealed that she had already lost 20 pounds.
"No filter. Just love and care for my body. Slowly reaching my weight goal. Slowly but surely and most importantly, happily," she wrote as the caption to her post.
How did she do it? By making lifestyle changes, especially in her diet and exercise.
In an Instagram video uploaded on March 2021, Pauleen shared that she had already started on her fitness journey for "a little over a month." She also shared a glimpse of her at-home workout routine, which includes doing Pilates on a machine.
She also revealed that she had Polycystic Ovary Syndrome or PCOS, a hormonal disorder where affected women produce excess male hormones (androgen) and have infrequent or prolonged menstrual periods.
This means Pauleen has to "work double time than a woman with no hormonal problem" when it comes to losing weight and managing her hormones and her skin, which she shared in another Instagram post.
"A little over a month into my fitness journey and I'm starting to feel strength coming back! I've accepted that it's a slow progress, but slow is better than none," the host writes.
"Living with PCOS is no joke. Making good choices with my food intake and moving (it's pilates, walking, spinning for me) has been my priority lately. So happy where I am right now and I really pray that God will sustain me," she adds.
As a mom, Pauleen has previously admitted feeling guilty whenever she focuses on herself, but has learned to realize that self-care is important if she wants to stay strong and healthy for her husband, Vic Sotto, and their three-year-old daughter, Tali.
"Even though there is 'mom guilt' when I spend me-time, I think it is also important that I look after my health, especially now that I have my own family," she wrote in an Instagram post back in 2019.
In another post, the mom shared, "I used to think that there are far more important things I can do than just work out. I was right, and wrong, too. I never realized how important it is to take care of myself cos I was always busy taking care of others, which I LOVE, BTW."

"And now, I realized that it doesn't necessarily mean that I love my family less when I take care of myself! As a matter of fact, I feel like I give them more because I am happy!"
PCOS affects an estimated one in five women and many do not know that they have it until they try to get pregnant. Whether you are trying to conceive or trying to manage your symptoms, it’s important to adopt lifestyle changes, just like what Pauleen has been doing, and consult with your OB-GYN on the treatment you need to take.
