Song Joong Ki, Kim Soo Hyun, Lee Joon Gi + More Actors Nominated For The 57th Baeksang Arts Awards

It's that time of the year again when South Korea's entertainment industry recognizes the best of the best in their version of the Oscars—the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards. 

What is the Baeksang Arts Awards?

Every second quarter of the year, the prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards is held in South Korea to acknowledge not only the top Korean actors but also the leading  K-dramas, Korean movies, and Korean variety shows. In an article published by The Straits Times, it was said that the awards ceremony was initiated by "Chang Key Young, founder of the Hankook Ilbo, who was known by his pen name Baeksang."

Last year, the Baeksang Arts Awards was rescheduled from May to June due to the pandemic and did not accommodate any audience. Actors Kang Ha Neul and Kim Hee Ae won the top prizes while the K-drama When The Camellia Blooms took home the Daesang (grand) Award. As for the Best Drama and Best Movie, Stove League and Parasite were honored.

Who are the nominees in the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards?

This year's awards ceremony is *intense* with its list of top-tier Korean stars who all deserve a trophy. Song Joong Ki (Vincenzo), Kim Soo Hyun (It's Okay To Not Be Okay), Lee Joon Gi (Flower Of Evil), Uhm Ki Joon (The Penthouse), and Shin Ha Kyun (Beyond Evil) are nominated for the Best Actor award. On the other hand, the Best Actress nominees are Seo Ye Ji (It's Okay To Not Be Okay), Kim So Yeon (The Penthouse), Shin Hye Sun (Mr. Queen), Kim So Hyun (River Where The Moon Rises), and Uhm Ji Won (Birthcare Center).

For the Best Supporting Actor, former Baeksang Arts Awards winner Oh Jung Se (It's Okay To Not Be Okay) is nominated once again. Joining him on the list are Kim Seon Ho (Start-Up), Kim Ji Hoon (Flower Of Evil), Lee Hee Joon (Mouse), and Choi Dae Hoon (Beyond Evil). The nominees for the female category are Yeom Hye Ran (The Uncanny Counter), Cha Chung Hwa (Mr. Queen), Jang Young Nam (It's Okay To Not Be Okay), Park Ha Sun (Birthcare Center), and Shin Eun Kyung (The Penthouse).
