Janine Gutierrez Believes *Real* Self-Care Is About Listening To And Being Honest With Yourself
Like us, Janine Gutierrez's beauty and lifestyle habits have changed because of the pandemic. Cosmopolitan Philippines had the chance to interview her at the Bio-Science event, where she shared with us some updates on her life and how quarantine has helped her realize more things about herself.
Janine Gutierrez's quarantine beauty routine
Janine focused on using efficient products. "Well, of course, when the pandemic started, everybody was trying to save money. It was the time when we all had to downsize," she explained.
"I really was drawn more to products that were multipurpose. One of my favorite products is the Bio-Science Bio-Gold Gold Essence Water because it's a serum and toner in one. And then my other favorite product is the Bio-Water Energizing Spray. It can work as a toner, a makeup setting spray, and a cooling and moisturizing facial mist. I use it throughout the day because it also mattifies the shine, removes impurities, and prevents maskne.
The real meaning of self-care
Janine believes that self-care is more than having a pampering beauty routine, binge-watching a series, or eating yummy food.
"I think self-care is really listening to and being honest with yourself on your needs," Janine said. "Sometimes when you don't feel good, you'll be tempted to just get a pint of ice cream or watch Netflix. But I found that the most helpful thing to do is to listen to yourself and find out why you're feeling bad or what is it that you need. It's also very much rooted in being honest with yourself," she added.
Janine's new skills and hobbies
Fun fact: Janine is now has mastered doing the chores at home. "Yeah! I'm a labada expert now," she proudly exclaimed. "I've also learned a bunch of new dishes that I've shared on my YouTube channel, which is also something that helped me not feel so alone during the pandemic."
She also shared that she has established a routine with her furbaby. "Me and my puppy, Ponche, have a morning and evening routine. Meron siyang morning training and then evening training," she detailed.
