Robi Domingo Shares Why He And His Non-Showbiz GF Aren't Getting Married Just Yet

Robi Domingo has been happily dating his non-showbiz girlfriend Maiqui Pineda for almost three years now. The 31-year-old Kapamilya host opened up about how he met Maiqui in his recent vlog and said they "owe Piolo [Pascual] everything."

You see, Robi and Maiqui are actually batchmates at the Ateneo De Manila University but weren't friends during their stay in college. Fast forward years later, they ~serendipitously~ bumped into each other at an ABS-CBN Christmas party—an event Robi was about to skip until Piolo convinced him to attend:

"Sabi ko, 'Papa P, ayoko na, pagod na ako.' Sabi niya, 'Mahiya ka naman. Isipin mo na lang yung oras na binigay sa'yo, yung tiwalang binigay sa'yo ng ABS-CBN at 'yon na yung paraan para magpasalamat ka.' After that, 'yon, umakyat ako."

Although at first, they didn't consider each other as their type (Robi is usually attracted to chinitas), "I fell in love constantly with her," he furthered shared in Kathryn Bernardo's new YouTube series TGIS. "Kasi there's another world na nakikita ko sa kanya. And also, she puts my feet down. 'Yon yung pinakamasarap na pakiramdam kapag kasama ko si Maiqui. Okay, everything's real, pero lahat ng pangarap ko parang natupad ko sa kanya."

They're obviously very much in love with each other, but according to Robi, they aren't getting married just yet. In a report by PUSH, Robi shared that yes, he and Maiqui have talked about settling down but there are factors that they have to consider before doing so: 1. We're still in a pandemic which means they can't celebrate the way they want to, 2. They want to be as financially secure as possible.

Robi said, "We have plans naman, of course, but we are not rushing into those kinds of things lalong lalo na sa panahon ngayon kasi the petty reason is we want everyone to celebrate with us, all the people who are close to us. The second reason is, ang pagpapakasal naman, para sa akin hindi lang naman I love you now. Ano 'yan, I love you now, I love you tomorrow, and forever and ang kaakibat ng pagmamahal na 'yon is securing your financials so kailangan handang handa tayo doon."
