Jake Ejercito Admits That Co-Parenting Hasn't Always Been Easy For Daughter Ellie

Jake Ejercito recently received praises after his bonding with daughter Ellie—which he shares with Andi Eigenmann—went viral on social media. In an exclusive interview with Cinema News, he talked about the co-parenting set-up that he has with Andi when it comes to taking care of their daughter.

"Actually, what happened was, si Ellie was in Siargao. And then, wala naman, hindi siya vacation trip. Actually, more on daddy duty siya."

He said that he visited the island to pick Ellie up and to help Andi with her current responsibilities since she is currently busy with her new baby. Andi recently gave birth to her and partner Philmar Alipayo's son Koa.

"I went there just to pick her up para sunduin siya kasi nga considering si Andi may bagong baby, she has Lilo also, mahihirapan siya kung siya pa ang magdadala dito kay Ellie. So nakiusap sa akin si Andi, kung puwede ko sunduin si Ellie and that's what I did."

Since it was his first time visiting Siargao, the father-daughter duo bonded by having Ellie serve as his tour guide. According to Jake, her daughter showed him her favorite spots on the island since she is basically considered a local there.

He also made time to meet Andi's partner and fiance Philmar.

Jake, however, admitted that the co-parenting set-up wasn't easy for Ellie at first. "Andi and I, 'yung relationship naman namin when it comes to co-parenting, hindi naman naging smooth lagi and hindi naman siya smooth ever since. Marami kaming pinagdaanan na phases, siyempre before immature pa kami and everything."

"Nakikita ko lang sa kaniya (Ellie) dati may times na kapag magulo, siyempre nakikita ko kay Ellie na nahihirapan din siya."

Fortunately, the three of them found a proper balance now to make sure that they keep Ellie happy. "What's good about now is parang kasi ang priority namin is 'yung what's good for Ellie. Yun ang motivation namin, si Ellie. So nakikita ko sa kaniya na, hindi na siya nahihirapan, smooth lahat, okay iyong communication."

Jake also made sure that he makes the most out of the time he spends with his daughter. He shares, "I just want to be the best dad for Ellie eh... Especially in my case, considering na hindi ko siya lagi kasama, so every time na I'm with her, I make it a point na sulitin 'yung opportunities na 'yun. I make the most out of it."
