Andrea On Her Ex-Boyfriend Derek: 'If he truly respects me and my family, he'll let us have our peace'

Andrea Torres just made a short but powerful statement about her 2020 breakup with Derek Ramsay. GMA reports that during a press conference for her new show The Legal Wives, Andrea was asked for her reaction after Derek said he initiated their breakup.

Andrea simply said that "it's been months." She added that she didn't "see the significance of discussing the details in public" and "what good will come out of it?" According to GMA, she told everyone that she was fine and that she had already moved on. "If he truly respects me and my family, he'll let us have our peace." 

Andrea is focusing on herself, her hobbies, and her career, saying in an interview: "Actually, wala naman pinagkaiba kung ano ako noong single at kung ano ako noong nasa isang relationship ako...I'm still the same person. It's just now mas may focus na ko sa sarili ko. I'm trying new things para mas makilala mo rin yung sarili mo. Baka mayroon pang mga hobbies na hindi pa na-e-explore."

Andrea and Derek started dating in 2019 and even launched a joint YouTube channel in February 2020. In November 2020, Derek confirmed that he and Andrea had broken up.

Derek has talked about the separation several times, defending Andrea from trolls and saying that there was no third party involved. He also said that the breakup was mutual and that they have no animosity towards each other. "It was both of us," Derek shared. "We ran across a little problem that became something much bigger. I guess we both realized na it was something both of us couldn't make certain adjustments to. We decided, instead of forcing it, let's just go [our] separate ways." In another interview, he said the breakup happened over the phone. Derek is now engaged to Ellen Adarna.
