Where Was Netflix's Christmas Rom-Com 'Love Hard' Actually Filmed?
Look, there's no point pretending we're not wildly excited for Christmas, because we are. Especially with Netflix releasing a whole load of brand new festive films including The Princess Switch 3 and our current favorite Love Hard. The film, which stars Nina Dobrev, is set in Los Angeles and New York, but the real-life filming locations might surprise you. Spoiler alert: LA and New York don't feature at all.
Love Hard follows unlucky-in-love LA girl Natalie Bauer (Nina Dobrev) who decides to join a dating app in search of a new relationship. After falling hard for a guy on the app, Natalie travels all the way to the East Coast from Los Angeles to surprise him for Christmas, only to discover she's been catfished. But, don't worry, it all turns out wholesome and festive in the end.
Obviously, anyone who's watched Elf, Home Alone 2, etc., knows that New York is one of the most festive places going—hence why so many Christmas films are based there, including Love Hard. But, in reality, none of the filmings took place there.
The project was actually filmed in Canada, with location listings including Vancouver and Burnaby, both in British Columbia.
Burnaby, British Columbia
Large portions of Love Hard were filmed in Burnaby, an area near Vancouver. The area is home to a huge number of other projects, from Juno to Riverdale.
Pioneer Avenue in Burnaby was used for filming interior and exterior dialogue scenes during October 2020 with Heavy reporting that snow blankets were placed on the ground to simulate winter.
Nations Creations Store
Some of the scenes from the movie were filmed in the Agassiz-based Nations Creations Store in the Easter Fraser Valley. The store features indigenous arts and crafts by First Nations artists.

Vancouver, British Columbia
The majority of Love Hard was filmed in Vancouver, a city that has become known as a popular filming location for films and TV series, to the extent that it's become known as "Hollywood of the North."

So, even though we're used to thinking New York is *the* Christmas city of all Christmas cities, maybe it's actually Vancouver?!
Love Hard is out on Netflix now.
