This Is What Carlo Aquino Would've Looked Like As A 'Squid Game' Player
Anyone with access to the internet would know that Squid Game is the *the* show everyone's been talking about since it premiered last month. It's so huge that it's officially become the biggest show to ever be launched on Netflix reaching 111 million viewers worldwide. Yup, mind-blowing, really.
But apart from all the buzz around the Korean survival drama, we do know that one fellow Pinoy was *this close* to making it as part of the stellar cast, Carlo Aquino. Shortly after Squid Game dropped on Netflix, Carlo revealed that he did, in fact, audition for the show—although he didn't know what it was for at that time. In an exchange with Cosmo.ph, he spoke about his audition process: "They sent me an audition script, mga five scenes from the series. They gave me guidelines on how to shoot. Shoot on my phone cam lang daw. Tapos binigay ko sa Star Magic."
The 36-year-old actor then told Star Magic that he was offered to play the role of Ali, a Pakistani migrant worker and one of the most beloved characters in the series. Carlo didn't push through with the project because of the lockdown in Korea at that time. "Nanghihinayang ako e. Nakakalungkot na hindi natuloy dahil sa pandemic," he said.
But, thanks to Netflix Philippines, Carlo got a *taste* of what he might have looked like as Player 199. Yesterday, October 14, Carlo posted on Instagram that he received a gift box with the infamous teal tracksuit—and of course, he had to try it on!
"Better late than never! Thanks @netflixph for the surprise," he wrote.
Fans and friends alike have commented on the post wishing to see Carlo in Squid Game Season 2. While there's still no confirmation from Netflix if a sophomore run of the show has been green-lit, at least we have this photo of Carlo to keep us hoping!
