Andrea Brillantes Tests Positive For COVID-19 And Talks About Battling Insomnia And Anxiety

Andrea Brillantes has tested positive for COVID-19.

In an interview with host Boy Abunda, The Huwag Kang Mangamba actress confirmed that she's asymptomatic. She also revealed her battle with insomnia and anxiety, especially as she's currently undergoing her quarantine.

"Okay naman po ako, physically, wala akong nararamdaman. Mahirap lang po mentally."

Andrea said that she copes in the daytime by reading books, but struggles in the evening because of her insomnia and because she's all alone.

"Takot ako mag-isa. 'Wag po sana kayo matawa—lapitin po kasi ako ng multo."

Andrea says she thinks she developed her insomnia because her body clock had been affected from working in showbiz since she was seven years old. She would also have nightmares a lot and suffer from sleep paralysis out of fear. She confirmed in the interview that she has also already seen a therapist for professional help.

"Nagkaroon ako ng fear na matulog kasi may mga tao na nagkaka-heart attack sa pagtulog nila, 'di na sila nagigising. So I believe dahil sobrang bangungot nila 'yon, ang ginagawa ko lang po is lagi akong nagpe-pray."

Despite growing up always surrounded by family or showbiz co-workers, Andrea is handling her self-isolation well. She also shares that while her mom and her sister are constantly worried about her and want to visit her, she wants to prove to them that she can deal with being physically alone as she recovers.

"For the first time, sa 18 years ko po, ito lang talaga yung nagkaroon ako ng quiet time alone for myself. Kahit takot ako, meron pa rin akong nakikitang happiness and peace."

"Kaya ko mag-isa. Kakayanin ko kahit mahirap."

"Sobrang cliché pero sobrang totoo po na mind over matter."

"Ngayon ko lang din nagawa yung treatment sa sarili ko [na] 'pag 'di ako makatulog, lagi ko lang iniisip na, 'No one's going to hurt you, Blythe.' Kasi ako lang naman yung nag-iisip ng may mananakit sa akin, e. Pero wala naman talaga."
