If you’re keeping up with streaming trends, then you’ve probably already watched everyone’s fave survival drama, Squid Game. ICYMI, it now holds the record for Netflix’s biggest debut with over 111 million views in just a few weeks. But seriously, though, he had us floored on the show! Looking for more reasons to fall in love with Ha Joon? Check out these K-dramas.

Early Projects

1. Goodbye Mr. Black (2016)

Ha Joon had already starred in multiple films before he made his drama debut in Goodbye Mr. Black. It was only for a small role, so you won’t be able to see him much, but we encourage you to stay for the drama. This romance thriller revolves around Cha Ji Won (Lee Jin Wook), a navy officer who ends up suffering after getting betrayed by his best friend. Now, he’s back for revenge, disguised under a fake identity with a matching fake wife (Moon Chae Won) in tow. What happens when he and his “wife” start falling for each other for real?

2. My Golden Life (2017)

Ha Joon continues building his drama portfolio little by little. This time around, he goes for a family drama about unsuspecting protagonist Seo Ji An (Shin Hye Sun), a Haeseong Group probationary employee whose life changes when she discovers she’s actually a part of the chairman’s family. She becomes close to her brother, Choi Do Kyung (Park Shi Hoo), but things take a turn for the strange when there’s a twist to her birth secret. Ha Joon plays Ryu Jae Shin, who used to be the driver of the family’s other daughter, Seo Hyun (Lee Da In).

3. Something In The Rain (2017)

We love this realistic noona romance starring Son Ye Jin and Jung Hae In! Ye Jin plays Yoon Jin Ah, a career woman in her mid-30s, fed up with her mother’s criticism of her life. She finds herself attracted to her BFF’s younger bro, Seo Joon Hee (Hae In), an animation designer who just came back from abroad. He likes her too and ends up trying to date her, but their age gap makes their relationship a trial from the start. Ha Joon plays Seung Ho, Jin Ah’s younger brother who just also happens to be Joon Hee’s best friend. He’s always pestering Jin Ah, but he has her welfare at heart.

4. Matrimonial Chaos (2018)

Two couples with marriage troubles navigate the ups and downs of their respective relationships in this drama. Jo Seok Moo (Cha Tae Hyun) and his wife, Kang Hwi Roon (Bae Doona), have clashing personalities that are making their lives hell; he’s an obstinate recluse while she’s a carefree mess. Meanwhile, Jin Yoo Young (Lee El)’s cold personality pushes her hubby, Lee Jang Hyun (Seon Seok Koo), away, but that doesn’t excuse his cheating ways. Ha Joon plays a minor role in this drama, but he makes quite an impression on Hwi Roo. Bonus: He even sang one of the OST songs, “Maybe It’s Too Late.” Is there anything he can’t do?

7. Squid Game (2021)

This battle royale drama is still going strong on Netflix’s top 10. Four hundred fifty-six individuals with huge debts get invited to play the Squid Game, a series of children’s games, to earn big money. The catch is, if you lose, you die, so it’s pretty much a fight for your life. It’s hard to talk about Ha Joon’s role in Squid Game without spoilers, so consider this your warning! He plays Hwang Jun Ho, a righteous police officer who infiltrates the games as a guard because he has a mission: to find his brother. But the more he learns about the games, the more he can’t leave things alone.
