13 Werewolf Shows To Binge When You're Bored With Vampires
I love a good rivalry, but sometimes, there's just no competition. Pepsi versus Coke? Pepsi wins, obvi. Dunkin' versus Starbucks? Munchkins for life, bb. Vampires versus werewolves? Say what you will, but for me, werewolves come out on top. Sure, there are way more vampire movies and vampire TV shows than there are werewolf movies and werewolf TV shows, but that doesn't mean they're better, mmkay? And while there's a lot of crossover between their supernatural worlds, it seems to me that the werewolf characters are always cooler than the vampire characters. (Two words: Team Jacob. That is all.)
Take the Vampire Diaries franchise, for instance. Half-werewolf Klaus is wayyyy more powerful than the Salvatore brothers, no question about it. And IMHO, Sookie's romance with werewolf Alcide was wayyyy hotter than her relationships with either Bill or Eric in True Blood. Whether you think bloodsuckers suck or not, there's no denying that TV series about werewolves are just as fun, and there's more of 'em than you may even realize. And yes, supernatural series that don't totally revolve around werewolves but still feature werewolf characters def count, because I said so.
From dark comedies to dramas, these scary TV shows are sure to have ya on the edge of your seat—and if you haven't already chosen a side in the ongoing battle between vampires and werewolves, then these shows may just convince you to finally pick a team. Happy streaming!!
Teen Wolf
This classic MTV series ran for six seasons, following a high schooler (played by Tyler Posey) who unexpectedly turns into a werewolf and is forced to protect his fictitious California town of Beacon Hills from supernatural threats. Classic high school stuff, ya know??

Bitten
In this Canadian drama, the world's only female werewolf is torn between two very different paths: living a normal life in Toronto with her human BF, or joining her fellow werewolves in upstate New York—including her ex-fiancé, who is responsible for turning her into a werewolf.
Wolfblood
Wolfbloods are creatures who look like humans but have enhanced senses and can turn into wolves at will, and this British-German fantasy drama follows the v complicated life of a 14-year-old Wolfblood who just wants to be a normal teen. Le sigh.

Hemlock Grove
Set in the small Pennsylvania town of Hemlock Grove, this horror series (which is one of Netflix's first original shows, JSYK) follows a 17-year-old Romani teen who sets out to clear his name when he's accused of two brutal murders...mostly so people don't find out he's secretly a werewolf.

Being Human
Based on the UK series of the same name ('cause isn't that what always happens??), this dark comedy centers around three roommates—a werewolf, a vampire, and a ghost—who attempt to keep their supernatural secrets from the world and lead lives like normal 20-somethings.

What We Do In The Shadows
Okay, so this show largely revolves around four vampire roommates living in Staten Island. But! They often cross paths with Arjan and his werewolf pack (with whom the vampires luckily have a truce), so it still counts. Catch up on this one before season 4 drops in 2022.

Penny Dreadful
Again, this one isn't just about werewolves, but it features several popular characters from 19th-century Victorian Gothic fiction, including Count Dracula, Victor Frankenstein, and his monster, and a weirdly hot werewolf (aka Lupus Dei, or the Wolf of God) played by Josh Hartnett.

The Originals
While The Vampires Diaries is pretty much all about vampires (duh), this spin-off series puts half-werewolf Klaus Mikaelson in a starring role as he and his siblings return to New Orleans for the first time since the early 20th century to enter the war brewing between vampires, werewolves, and witches.

Legacies
Another Vampires Diaries spin-off, Legacies follows teenage orphan Hope Mikaelson—daughter of half-werewolf Klaus and werewolf Hayley—as she attends the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted and learns to control her abilities along with other supernatural students. Make sure you're all caught up before diving into season 4.

The Order
This dark series follows a college freshman who pledges a secret society in order to avenge his mother's death, only to find himself entangled in a war between werewolves and users of black magic. For the record: No, I'm still not over this one being canceled after just two seasons.

Shadowhunters
In this supernatural drama, 18-year-old Clary discovers she's an angel-human hybrid tasked with hunting down demons—and that includes those infected by the demonic disease Lycanthropy, which gives people the ability to transform into powerful wolves. Naturally, those werewolves hate Shadowhunters almost as much as they hate vampires, who are also part of the demon world.

True Blood
While werewolves aren't introduced until season 3 of True Blood, which is largely about—you guessed it!—vampires, they come to play a major role in the series, which follows telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse as she's welcomed into the world of supernatural beings following a chance encounter.

Carnival Row
Carnival Row is set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with magical creatures, including the marrok, who are unfortunate individuals infected with the Wolf's Curse, causing them to turn into wolf-like creatures during a full moon. Here's hoping the marrok get more screen time in season 2, 'cause they are seriously cool.
