On August 3, 2021, she won a silver medal in the boxing's women's featherweight division at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.   1. Nesthy was born on April 11, 1992 in Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur, Philippines. She is 29 years old and her zodiac sign is Aries! 
  2. Her father, Teodoro, was one of her early mentors. He started coaching her at the age of seven. Nesthy's brother, Norlan, and sister, Nicezza, are also into boxing.

  3. Growing up, she would join inter-barangay competitions so that her family could eat. In an episode of the Go Hard Girls podcast with sports reporter and award-winning writer Ceej Tantengco, Nesthy said, "Nung time na 'yon, walang wala rin talaga kami. Mahirap talaga buhay namin. Makakakain kami puro utang. So ginagawa namin kapag may inter-barangay, mga palaro, sasali talaga kami kasi alam namin may premyo, e. Manalo, matalo, alam namin may premyoMay pambili kami ng ulam. May pambili kami ng bigas."
  4. She liked basketball first before boxing. Nesthy would pack basketball clothes in her school bag before training and she recalled, "Umiiyak ako noon kasi gusto ko basketball talaga."
  5. At 11 years old, she competed at Araw Ng Davao and won against a male opponent who was significantly bigger, taller, and more experienced than her. Back then, Nesthy shared that she only knew of the backward and jab straight combination, which she would do on repeat. 
  6. She graduated from an associate course at the University of Baguio.

  10. Apart from bagging the silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Nesthy has also won a gold medal at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. She ranked first place at both the 2019 World Championships in Russia and the 2019 Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament in Bangkok. In 2017, she won third place at the President's Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan and a year after, ranked first at the Feliks Stamm Tournament in Warsaw, Poland.
