You Guys, Yam Concepcion Is Getting Married In Manhattan In End July!

Yam Concepcion has been happily enjoying her days in New York with her non-showbiz fiance, Miguel Cuunjieng.

In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN showbiz reporter MJ Felipe, the actress talked about reuniting with Miguel after enduring a six-year long-distance relationship. Yam flew to the US in May.

"I've been loving New York so far. Two months na 'ko dito and what I celebrate the most is the time that I get to spend with Miguel kasi six years kaming LDR. Finally, we get time to enjoy time together, extended time together. Siyempre mahirap 'yon, kasi yung love language ko physical touch, e, so ang hirap, 'di ba, na 'di mo siya kasama."

On June 23, Yam announced that she and Miguel had been engaged since 2018. In an Instagram post, she shared that he had actually proposed on New Year's Eve during a trip to Niseko, Japan. Yam, later on, talked about their engagement story through a series of uploads on her YouTube channel.

In the vlogs, Yam revealed that she had kept the engagement a secret because she had so many projects lined up and because she was in "career mode." But now that she's wrapped up her work on the soaps like Halik (2018), Love Thy Woman (2020), and Init Sa Magdamag (2021), she realized that it was time to focus on her relationship with Miguel.

Now that their engagement is Insta-official, Yam says she feels as if she and Miguel had just been engaged all over again. Aww.

"It just felt right. Nung pinost ko nung time na 'yon, feeling ko na-engage kami ulit. It felt new again to us. Nagulat din ako."

Yam says she also discovered another thing at the time that made the proposal date—December 31—all the more meaningful: It's actually also the birthday of her grandfather!

"I only realized when my mom pointed out to me that noong day na 'yon, birthday ng lolo ko. So sabi ko, 'Special day nga talaga ngayon!'"

So when's the big day? Yam says it will be in Manhattan in end July, and it will be super low-key. She's actually on top of all the wedding planning herself!

"Since dito tayo sa US, ikaw lahat magpa-plano so wala akong tiga-tulong planning all these things. 'Di naman siya yung grand celebration. We just want it very simple and very intimate."
