Bea Alonzo Has Lost 15 Pounds Since Starting Her 2021 Fitness Journey
It's looking like 2021 is really Bea Alonzo's ~Year of Health~! In February, the actress showed us what a typical day is like for her during the pandemic—and it involved squeezing in not one but *two* workouts: badminton and pilates! In that vlog, she told her fans, "I gained so much during the ECQ. I think I gained 15 to 20 pounds because I kept on eating. I was kind of exercising pero hindi gaya ng workouts ko before. 'Yun yung New Year's resolution ko—to lose weight; hindi lang to look good but also to have a healthier body."
A few months later, Bea gave us a tour of her new home gym (if you can recall, this used to be her family-slash-entertainment room). In there, she has a multifunctional squat machine, a rack for all her exercise balls, a rowing machine, a punching bag, and a treadmill! Her old workout area is now a studio for yoga and pilates classes. I mean, if that's not dedication, I don't know what is!
In a new vlog, Bea opened up about what she's been doing to stay in shape, which includes turning to professionals for help: fitness trainer Jay Garcia and nutritionist Ian Matthew.
Though she's been trying to eat better since the beginning of the year, Bea shared that in May, they created meals that started from 1,800 calories and gradually lowered 'em down to 1,200. "I'm trying to do it properly. I'm trying to get eight hours of sleep every day. I try to drink a lot of water..."
Bea revealed, "From January, I've already lost 15 pounds. Hindi ko alam kung halata ninyo, but halata ko dahil sa mga damit ko. And I am proud of that. I am proud that I have lost 15 pounds the healthy way. For me kasi, I like to invest in my health. That is very important to me."
They spent two weeks re-establishing basic movement patterns and working on corrective exercises; these corrective exercises were to accommodate the setbacks they encountered (like Bea's experience with neck and knee pain). They also spent two weeks progressing the basic workouts and "tapered the program towards recovery." Bea worked out twice a day, four to five times a week.
Here are some of the workouts that were "fundamental" to her fitness journey:
Modified pushups
Squats
Plank
Lunges
Afterwards, they also went through more complex exercise moves, and at one point, bumigay yung boxing bag niya, guys, haha! Ganon na siya kalakas!
