Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza Praises Rabiya Mateo: 'She was always on point'

Miss Mexico Andrea Meza is still on cloud nine after winning the title of Miss Universe 2020 in the recently concluded pageant on May 16, Sunday (May 17 Philippine time).

On May 20, Thursday, ABS-CBN reporter Dyan Castillejo had the chance to interview the beauty queen, and even get her thoughts on the Philippines' representative, Rabiya Mateo.

"She’s a gorgeous lady," said Andrea. "She was always on point. She was always like perfect hair, perfect outfit, and I think she was a great representative of your country." Aww. We're loving this sisterly show of support!

Andrea was reportedly an early favorite in the competition. After winning the Miss Universe crown, the 26-year-old software engineer flew to New York City to fulfill her duties as the current titleholder. 

She says she was always confident that she would emerge the pageant's winner as she had been preparing for it for a long time. 

"I cannot remember one day that I felt nervous or if something was not going the right way, I felt this inner peace knowing I could do great and that it was the moment. I never doubted that I could not make it to the Top Five. I’ve been preparing for this moment, like, for the last five years of my life."

"I arrived in the competition believing that I was the winner because if I don’t believe it, no one else is going to believe me. And I know the power of our thoughts and that’s why I always saw myself as the winner. But I knew that if something else happened, well, because the universe and destiny had something else for me."

Rabiya managed to get into the Top 21 but failed to enter the pageant's Top 21. We're still so proud of her, though!
