Here's Why Angelica Panganiban's Red Cross *Twitter Rant* Has Gone Viral

Angelica Panganiban has gone viral for her controversial tweets about the Philippine Red Cross. On May 25, the actress took to Twitter to complain about the organization, writing: "Hello, Red Cross Subic!! Isang oras na kami sa dito sa parking area niyo. Nakaalis na din mga nakasabay namin. At inuna niyo pa yung ibang bagong dating. Okay lang naman kung palakasan [smiley face emoji] tweet ko na lang."

In follow-up tweets, she said: "Taray ng Red Cross dito sa Subic. 'Di sila namamansin [smiley face emoji]...Noong huling beses ako nagpa-swab sa Red Cross, muntik akong mabaliw. Nagpadala sila ng email na positive ako sa [COVID-19]. Pero yung attachment result, negative ako. Ginawa nila 'yon sa buong Olongapo guys [woman shrugging emoji]. Nag-sorry naman sila after 12 hours."

Twitter users called Angelica's rant "entitled" and asked her to "check her privilege." People also asked the actress to apologize to frontliners. Some shared their own experiences with Red Cross, saying that they lined up early but still had to wait under the hot tents for several hours, even with an appointment.

One Twitter user, who said he was a frontliner at the scene, said Angelica should be grateful her companion got swabbed without having to line up under the tents. "People who were swabbed before you sa parking were actually [ill] and yung isa nga ambulansya pa e. 'Di mo ba kita ma'am? Ang pagiging artista ma'am 'di kasama sa priority list, yet, lumabas ako to swab yung kasama niyo." 

He also advised Angelica to come earlier next time and even shared a photo with Angelica, writing: "Next time punta kayo maaga, we're open at 9 a.m. Make sure may appointment kayo and better pila kayo so that malaman niyo na 'di lang kayo ang client namin. Mas nakakapagod palang lumabas sa tirik ng araw to swab such artists tapos more rant lang. 'Kala ko pa naman happy ka dito o." 

As of this writing, Angelica has not responded to the tweets.
