Gerald Anderson Was Low-Key Part Of A 'Floating Community Pantry' To Help Fishermen In Zambales

Yesterday, April 29, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) posted an update on Facebook about their "floating" community pantry, which they call Bayanihan sa Karagatan. They reported that the PCG division in Botolan, Zambales, with the help of Gerald Anderson (who is a lieutenant commander of the PCG Auxiliary unit), was able to distribute 100 food packs. Each pack had five kilos of rice, four canned goods, four packs of instant noodles, and coffee.

PCG also shared photos of Gerald on a bangka handing the food packages to fishermen. They said that according to Gerald, Bayanihan sa Karagatan was to show support and appreciation for the fishermen who ensure that people have food to eat during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gerald is used to doing these outreach programs. On March 6, 2021, he celebrated his birthday with girlfriend Julia Barretto by doing relief work for an Aeta community in Zambales. And in November 2020, after typhoon Ulysses struck the country, Gerald and his unit did relief operations in Cagayan, Isabela, from packing donations to distributing them to the citizens.
