OMG, The 'Friends' Reunion Starts Filming Next Week!

So no one told you life was gonna be this way—what with ECQ and all. So we'll take every good piece of news we can get: The Friends reunion special starts filming next week! And it will star the whole gang: Jennifer Aniston as Rachel, Courtney Cox as Monica, David Schwimmer as Ross, Matthew Perry as Chandler, Matt LeBlanc as Joey, and Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe.

Fans have been begging for a Friends reunion after the sitcom ended in 2004 (17 years ago!), and it was only in November 2019 that it was confirmed to be pushing through. It was scheduled to air on HBO Max in May 2020.

Unfortunately, the crazy year that was 2020 happened (no thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic), so things were derailed. Filming was originally scheduled for March 2020, and it got pushed back to this month. But hey, at least for sure it starts next week!

According to Deadline.com, the Friends reunion will be an unscripted special. Yesterday, Schwimmer revealed on the Graham Norton Show that the cast won't be reprising their roles. He said, "We're not in character; we're all ourselves, as real people. Although there is one section of it that I don't want to give away, but we all read something."

There's no date yet for when the reunion special will premiere. But given that the original plan only had two months between filming and release, our fingers are crossed for a June 2021 screening.
