The K-drama industry is adding another milestone to its growing portfolio because the 2016 popular fantasy series W: Two Worlds is set for a spinoff in America!
As reported by Deadline, veteran TV Producer Craig Plestis has collaborated with CBS Studios (which produced the hit series Riverdale, Gossip Girl, and The Vampire Diaries) for a remake of the K-drama. Previously, he brought the format of the Korean TV shows The Masked Singer and I Can See Your Voice to America, and both proved to be a phenomenal success. The American version of I Can See Your Voice is scheduled for its second season while The Masked Singer is now on its fifth.

The article further mentioned that Craig will be working with MBC America's Managing Director of Content and Channel Business, Nahee Kim, through his production company, Smart Dog Media. It is worth noting that MBC is the South Korean broadcasting channel that distributed the OG W: Two Worlds.

The international remakes of K-dramas are nothing new: The Good Doctor, penned by Vincenzo writer Park Jae Bum is the first Korean series to get a spinoff in the U.S and is currently on its fourth season. The Oscar award-winning Korean movie Parasite will also be adapted into a TV series by HBO.
W: Two Worlds circles around Kang Chul (Lee Jong Suk) and Oh Yeon Joo (Han Hyo Joo), and is about two different worlds: One from real life and the other set in a manhwa (webtoon) titled W. The K-drama reached double-digit ratings in the year it was aired and bagged numerous trophies in awards shows.
