Get To Know The Admins Behind Song Joong Ki's Fan Club In The Philippines

For some of us, we discovered Song Joong Ki in his recent K-dramas like Vincenzo, Arthdal Chronicles, and Descendants Of The Sun. But for others, they have been cheering on the actor for more than a decade since his breakout stint in Sungkyunkwan Scandal. Case in point: Meljoy and Joan, the admins of Song Joong Ki Philippines.

The fan club was established in 2010 and is one of the first official support group in the Philippines. "Noong time na in-establish namin ang Song Joong Ki Philippines, wala pa masyadong fan club for Korean actors and actresses. Ang mga hit that time are K-pop groups talaga ", says Meljoy, the fan club's head admin.

Since then, Song Joong Ki Philippines has been updating the entire Joong Ki nation about his latest projects, magazine covers, endorsement deals, and many more on social media. They're also in constant communication with his official fan club in South Korea. Apart from that, they would also send presents to Joong Ki in SoKor in the form of bouquets and rice wreaths (ICYDK, this is a heartwarming fan gift because the bags of rice are later on donated to charities!). For his fan meetings in other countries, the fan club shows their full support through food and drinks for the actor and his international fans.

Joong Ki is widely know for his award-winning acting chops, intelligence, and love for his family—but his kindness towards other people is what truly defines him. This inspires Song Joong Ki Philippines to go beyond fangirling and reach out to those in need: "Through fan clubs like this, we can also participate in charitable events. Gusto namin ipakita na hindi lang kami fangirls. May kabuluhan yung ginagawa namin. I hope other people can also see that. Hindi lang saamin 'yun, all other Korean artist fan clubs ginagawa 'yun."
