2. Ama, Ina, Anak (1996)
The plot: "Marilen and Santi long for a child of their own, but after each miscarriage, the couple feels that the chances of having a child get slimmer. The couple then decides to adopt a baby girl, Issa, and raise her as their own. Years after, Marilen and Santi are finally blessed with their own biological child. Issa now has to adjust from being the star of the family to the outsider." Rico Yan played the love interest of Jolina Magdangal in the film!

3. Madrasta (1996)
"I was never your partner, I'm just your wife. Kaya hindi mo ako nirerespeto." This line is probably what we all remember most from the movie, where Sharon Cuneta plays the stepmother of Christopher De Leon's three children. In Madrasta, Rico was once again paired with Claudine, who played one of Christopher's children.

4. Paano Ang Puso Ko? (1997)
Looking for a Rico Yan love triangle? In this movie, Rico and Wowie De Guzman play cousins Jason and Ruben, who both fall for Judy Ann Santos' character Cecile. Jason is a balikbayan from the US, and according to iWant, "he has a secret that can turn all their lives upside down!"

5. Flames: The Movie (1997)
In this two-part movie, Rico and Claudine star in Pangako: "Karina's life revolves around her widowed mother and her younger siblings, and her chance to forget about her boring life comes when Joel enters the picture. Despite their differences, campus "bad girl" Mela (Claudine) and "Mr. Sungit" Miguel (Rico) fall for each other. Mela even changes her whole personality just to gain his approval—which is a super red flag, in my opinion. Seriously, though: this film is A CLASSIC.

Heiress Via's life (Caudine) is saved by Gabriel (Rico) when she is kidnapped on the night of her 18th birthday. The two, of course, fall madly in love, but it seems like everyone is against them. Via's father, who calls Gabriel "hampaslupa," has even arranged her marriage to her childhood friend Michael (Diether Ocampo)! And yes, this movie is the origin of that Princess Punzalan meme.
